UK and Lithuanian prisons

There are about 160 prisons in UK while in Lithuania only one real - Lukiskes. At first all prisoners have to pass reception in order to chech identities and they are all seen by a nurse, to identify those coming off drugs, on medication or feeling suicidal. The same process is in Lithuania, but in UK prisoners must wear prison's clothes and here in Lithuania just if they don't have their own.In UK prisoners are kept in chambers which are from single cells to dormitories and in Lithuania prisoners, who have life imprisonment are kept in single cells and other in chambers with 3-5 other prisoners. The same as in UK each chamber has a toilet and prisoners are allowed to have TV's, but in Lithuania they also can have a computer (but without Internet) and radio's. As in UK the same in Lithuania prisoners can pray, train there body, they have access to education in LT they can study at University and in UK they can get vocational qualification in education center. Prisoners have a lot of occupation and it is very important to tranquil prison's life. Talking about family visits it's not the same as in UK. In UK they are possible ones a moth and in Lithuania - ones in two months. Prisoners have breakfast, lunch and evening meal the same like in UK, but keeping them it's not the same. In LT to keep one adult costs 4.2 litas and a juvenile - 7.88 litas. In UK an adult costs 1.87 pounds per day and a juvenile - 3.81 pounds.

Some UK prisons have provided counselling sessions and awareness training. They support adult males who have been sexually abused and raped. More people are already locked up in England and Wales than anywhere else in western Europe and the living conditions have changed, like overcrowding, drugs, poor hygiene, food, family visits and other areas related with prison and prison's life.

We can talk about the same things in Lithuania - it's not so good as it looks. In prison there is a new different life with new authorities witch are very cruel. Sexual abuse, sneers, violence, racketeer, drugs in prison is a daily routine.

Civil and public law

Civil law cares for realtionships among citizens and their country, and public law cares for relationship of the one state with other, or citizens and the state.

The party (state) brings a criminal action in order to prove person's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. The loser of the action can be punished by life imprisonment, but sometimes just with financial penalty. In civil case civil action brings an individual person seeking for compensation. If the defendant is liable he has to pay damages.

If the loser of the civil action didn't comply with the sentence, his disobeying may bring a criminal action.

Never again

There are four main arguments which support capital punishment. Deterrence theory says that criminals will be afraid to commit a crime, because they will know that they can die too if they were caught. The idea of public security mean that convicted murderer won't be able to murder again, because he won't be set free. The other arguments are more disputable, because one says that criminals should pay for what they did and other that keeping them alive in prisons is a waist of money. First argument against is statistical, it shows that despite executions number the number of homucides are growing. Second argument is that people can be convicted incorrectly. And the last ones are grounded by people's conscience and belief, because state has to show an example of not taking lifes and all Christians have to forgive not to revenge.
